INDIA IN 21st CENTURY: Essay

INDIA IN 21ST CENTURY

India is a country which is doing progress day by day. It was the country which remained under the British Rule for two centuries. When it got freedom in 1947 not even a needle was made in India. Our first prime minister late Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru realized that India could progress only when it becomes self dependent. He started five years plans to achieve the goal.

The most important factor responsible for a developing country is science and technology. Many governments changed but all of them tried their best to raise the standard of living of the common men. It is therefore believed that after 2000 our country will be prosperous and powerful. Many steps are taken to lead the country to the heights of progress till the year 2000.

The progress of India depends of the prosperity of her villages. It is our belief that villages will change and villagers will be happier. There will be no landless farmers. They will not be illiterate and uneducated. Through education they will help them in running small and large industries. Economic condition will improve.

Our constitution provides that everybody has a right to education. It is through that free and universal education will be possible till 2000. When the people will be educated many social evils will be removed. Communalism, provincialism, untouchability, linguistic, narrow mindedness and problems related to religions will be disappeared.

Computers are used in space rocket technology and starwar projects but today they are being used in many fields of life like trade, commerce, industry, education and entertainment. Its use is likely to become more widespread in future. In 21st century computers will dominate our lives more than any machine invented by man up till now.

Science has minimized the world. With the help of science man has conquered land, water, air and space. It is believed that man will build colonies in the space during 21st century.

In the field of industrialization India is doing a tremendous progress. Country’s natural resources are mainly helpful for the progress of industries. Yet still greater effort is needed for country’s total development only then it will be able to compete with other countries in the near future.

On the other hand people are feeling insecure that in future man is likely to be dominated by computers, science and technology. It would cripple the world. Increasing population is also causing a danger to land, water and atmosphere. Poverty, illiteracy, corruption and superstitions are the main obstacles in the way of progress of India.

It is wrong to think that these problems cannot be solved. These problems are going to be solved at national and international level. Even nuclear energy will be used for constructive purposes. Therefore one should be optimistic about the things to come. So we should imagine that tomorrow’s India will be a heaven to live in.
