MASS TOURISM IS A GREATER ENVIRONMENT THREAT
Taj is one of monuments that appear on the list of world’s 100 most endangered historic sites according to the World Monument Watch. Today all monuments face a lot of threat from air pollution and non- conservation. Many pollutants there are carried by numerous tourists are making these monuments dirty and steadily destroying these structures. While global travel is broadening day by day, it is playing havoc with world’s gems of historical sites, paintings and relics. Preservation of heritage, both natural and historic, does not come cheap and the pressures of an expanding global population that likes to visit historical places is aggravating the problems all the time. The decisions are difficult when a choice has to be made between preservation of irreplaceable monuments and the loss of thousands of jobs and millions in income to the tourism department of a country. In many countries the choice seems to be in favour of the monuments.
