KASHMIR PROBLEM: Essay Writing Topics

English_Master August 6, 2016 No Comments
KASHMIR PROBLEM Kashmir has been a problem for us since our independence. It has a historical background of our failing and betrayals to the nation. The seeds were sown in the unnatural partition of the country. We talked of secularism and accepted the partition on communal lines. The appeasement policy of Indian leaders, started by Mahatma Gandhi, continued after partition. The natural results of partition were that all Muslims ought to have gone to Pakistan and all Hindu ought to have come to Bharat. But the Hindus flowed from Pakistan to India. But five crores Muslims remained in the country. What was the fun of partition then? It was rather an introduction to much partition to come. Pakistan lives in our country in every nook and corner. In the cities where Muslims lives, have Hindu Muslim riots again and again. These are not riots but are effort to gain position. Collection of arms has been found in then houses and mosques. The Govt has not been telling the facts to the people. Newspapers have been very idealistic in not showing the courage to call a spade. The so called secularism that is to safeguard the interests to this van minority keeps them both blind and deaf to the realities.|...

LIFE AND LITERATURE: Essay Topics

English_Master August 6, 2016 No Comments
LIFE AND LITERATURE Literature is the reflection of life of the age in which it is produced or written. It provides a true and actual record of the social, economic, political and religious condition of the time. The literary man is bound to be effected by the incidents and happenings of the society in which we live. He records all the incidents which occur in that age. He watches them closely. He tries to produce a faithful and real scene of his age. He presents the feelings and sentiments of human mind either in the form of appreciation or in bitter criticism. History is based on the facts and so it is real picture of life. Literature is picture of the real and ideal. It laid stress on what is ought to be and not on what it is. Literature reveals beauty and truth of idea. History is chronological and photographic representation of the events of particular age in which they take place. Literature is not a history but in every creative literature truth of art should be part of it. “Fairies Queen”, “Milton’s Paradise Lost”, Tulsi’s Ram Charitmanas and Mahabharata may be studied as books of social facts but they also have something ideal in them. And that...

LITERACY IN INDIA: Essay Writing

English_Master August 6, 2016 No Comments
LITERACY IN INDIA Talk to a politician or a bureaucrat about the fate of education he would immediately shift to literacy. He would like to emphasize that literacy picked up in the country during eighties and nineties. For the most of us it is difficult to calculate the number of educated people i.e., those who have studied at least up to higher secondary stage. But for the literate statistics are easily available. And who is considered literate in India? Even one who can write his name and read it is literate. There may be some who can read the headlines of newspaper or go through some lines of a religious book. Any way the statistics are quite deceptive and misleading. They are prepared by the field workers to show their efficiency- if not in producing sizable number of really literate people at least in producing paper records in a sizeable number to please the people at helm of the fainters. Some of them may be true. They are conscientious people everywhere though in small fraction. Taking into consideration the records prepared, Kerala should be proud of having the largest number of literates in the country. It is 98% by the end of nineties. Kerala has been always known as country’s showcase state in Education. Southern states have always risen to the need of the...

LIVE IN ACTIVE NOT CONTEMPLATION: Essay Topics

English_Master August 6, 2016 No Comments
LIVE IN ACTIVE NOT CONTEMPLATION This is a quotation from a German poet and philosopher Goethe, carries a valuable idea. Life is not just reverie, a dream. It is much more than that, it is action. Without energetic action, life would stagnate. Without great deeds, life would be come static and would lose much of its charm. A life of thought and reflection would be quite futile, if thought never transformed into practical action. It is not that contemplation has no place in life. Contemplation induces peace of mind, tranquility and contentment. Great ideals are usually a product of contemplation. Practically all the germinal ideas of the world have come from thinkers and philosophers with whom contemplation was a habit. Without mature reflection and cool deliberation nothing should be done. Meditation and silent prayer are purifying agents for soul and a sedative for nerves. But contemplation should never be regarded as the aim of human life. Great ideas had not been translated in to action by practical men. If the teachings of thinkers like Rousseau and Voltaire had not been given a concrete shape, there would have been no revolution in France. The march of civilization has largely depended up on men of action, men for whom adventure was...

Essay about IS WAR NECESSARY?

English_Master August 6, 2016 No Comments
IS WAR NECESSARY? No doubt war is an evil, the greatest catastrophe that befalls human beings. It brings death and destruction, disease and starvation, poverty and ran in its sake. One has only to look back to the havoc that was wrought in various countries not many years ago, in order to estimate the destructive effects of war. A particularly disturbing side of modern war is that they send to become global so that they may engulf the entire world. But here are people who consider war as something that bring out the best in man, but this does not alter the fact that war is a terrible, dreadful calamity. This is especially so now that a man will now be fought with atom bombs. Some people say war is necessary. A glance at the past history will tell that war has been a recurrent phenomenon in the history of nations. No period in world history has been all types long and short. In view of this it seems futile talk of permanent and everlasting peace or to make plans for the establishment of internal peace. We have had advocates of non violence and the theory of the brotherhood of man. We have had the Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi....

Essay about LURE FOR SPACE ADVENTURE

English_Master August 5, 2016 No Comments
LURE FOR SPACE ADVENTURE Since the dawn of time, man has dreamed of travelling to space and gazing back on the beauty of Earth. Almost each one of us, at one or the other point of our lives, has gazed up to the sky marveling at its sheer beauty, wondering where does it begin? Where does it end? What lies beyond our sight and what facts are waiting to be unveiled? Are we not alone? Are we sharing this existence? Are we the most primitive or the most advanced? Won’t it be too arrogant to believe that we are the only one in this universe? Do aliens and ETs (Extra Terrestrials) exist? This unknown and unexplained aspect is the biggest ‘lure of space’. A blend of earth, fire, water, air and ether is said to be the basis of life. Man, the most developed life form on Earth, has been gifted with two unique qualities: one is curiosity and the other is perseverance to scrutinize what leads to curiosity. As it is, the idea of the conquest of space is as old as the human brain. Long before Kepler discovered celestial mechanics making interplanetary travel conceivable, space traffic existed in legends. Man rose to the heavens and gods visited...

NATIONAL INTEGRATION: Essay Topics

English_Master August 5, 2016 No Comments
NATIONAL INTEGRATION Our nation today is torn with conflicts plagued by crisis and shattered by animosity. There is blood bath in the name of religion, every department of human activity is politicized. Strides, violence and astrocitics have become the order of the day. Last but not the least corruption has shattered the rhythm of our national life, rendering it into dismal and doleful tunes. Horrified of the anarchy and chaos that reigns supreme; today national integration is felt to be the need of the hour. We have to be wide awake to the threats of our hostile neighbours, China and Pakistan. National integration is also necessary for social peace and security. A country without peace cannot progress. If there is no peace and mutual trust, there is no progress has been made in the field of art and literature, science and technology. She cannot play a major role in international affairs when she is herself in disorders. The clamours for “Azad Kashmir” “Khalistarf, “Hindu Rashtra” etc have the support of certain selfish quarters and political parties, who have put personal ambitions before national gains. Communal riots, ethnic strife, strikes and bandhs have become the norm of the day. Added to this, is the caste-based reservations in govt jobs and...

NECESSITY LEADS TO INVENTION: Short Essay

English_Master August 5, 2016 No Comments
NECESSITY LEADS TO INVENTION It has been rightly said that necessity is the mother of inventions. Most of the inventions and discoveries own their successful operations to necessity. Unless there is want we cannot struggle to attain our goal. The history of human progress Will all walks of life in the history of man’s endeavor to reach new goals. When man-felt hungry, he started hunting and till land. The need for shelter led the man to build hut and houses. The need for quick travel resulted in the invention of fast means of transport, making the world short. At the time of necessity, the human mind, which is creative and imaginative, thinks in a very quick manner. In this age of science where a race is going on, deadly weapons are being manufactured due to necessity. Fear of enemy has forced power-hungry countries to invent destructive weapons of death. The proverbial crow’s necessity of water forced it to find out the way to quench its thirst. In the political life it is again the necessity which leads us to think of new form of govt whether-socialistic or otherwise in pattern. New needs arise; fresh methods are devised to meet them. New plans are hatched to find solutions to different...

Essay about NEED FOR SOCIAL REFORM FOR THE DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA

English_Master August 5, 2016 No Comments
NEED FOR SOCIAL REFORM FOR THE DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA On the stroke of midnight, the 15th of August 1947, we take up to life and freedom. But very soon we were back again in the same old track, prosperity, modernization and healthy living seen a distant reality and possibility. Now it is not the English who enslaved us but we are enslaved by our own old orthodox views and function. After years of independence our progress has been very slow. Mere modernization will not make our nation great but modernization should be started from the grass root level. If the society is modem, up dated and free from prejudices, India will surely gain its true independence from mental slavery and will surely jump to a successful nation. The main drawback of our society is that gender discrimination. Men and women are the two wheels of life. Life can never be a smooth sailing of one of its wheels neglected. Men should always remember that “behind every great man, there is a woman”. By giving equal rights to woman, India can take the first step towards social and economic development. Reforms should be initiated to make the people realize the benefit of equal treatment to the females. Another problem faced...

English_Master August 5, 2016 No Comments
ONE CASTE ONE RELIGION AND ONE GOD FOR MANKIND One caste, one religion, one God for mankind, the famous words by Sreenarayana Guru. Great men may die out their words are cherished forever. Jesus Christ said love your neighbour as you love yourself. But today’s world seems to have forgotten those words. These words are very relevant today. India is a vast land with a vast population consists of people of different castes, creed, colours and communities. They are divided into so many castes and sub castes. They speak different languages and follow different customs. Thus we have been living as our nation for the last so many centuries, it is the unity in diversity. Caste system Originated in India with the coming of Aryans. According to their occupation people divided into different castes. The division of labour among these communities and castes was to facilitate the society to run it well. But the same has become a curse today. The olden days no difference between high and low but today class distinction has reached their climax. The British rulers, according to their policy of “divide and rule” they motivate the system of caste and made a chance to clash between the castes. They forced Muslims to believe in Hinduism....

OZONE LAYER DEPLETION: A DANGER TO OUR ENVIRONMENT: Essay

English_Master August 5, 2016 No Comments
OZONE LAYER DEPLETION: A DANGER TO OUR ENVIRONMENT Definition Ozone is the layer of colourless gas that forms a protective covering in the Earth’s upper atmosphere. Ozone is formed when oxygen molecules absorb ultraviolet photons and undergo a chemical reaction known as photo dissociation or photolysis, where a single molecule of oxygen breaks down to two oxygen atoms. The ozone molecules, in turn, absorb ultraviolet rays between 310 to 200 nm wavelengths and thereby prevent these harmful radiations from entering the Earth’s atmosphere. In the process, ozone molecules split up into a molecule of oxygen and an oxygen atom. The oxygen atom (O) again combines with the oxygen molecule (O2) to regenerate an ozone molecule (O3). Thus, the total amount of ozone is maintained by this continuous process of destruction and regeneration. Ozone layer depletion first captured the attention of the whole world in the later half of 1970 and since then, many discussions and researches have been carried out to find out the possible effects and the causes of ozone depletion. Many studies have also been directed to find out a possible solution. Causes of Ozone Depletion The cause of ozone depletion is the increase in the level of free radicals such as hydroxyl radicals, nitric oxide radicals...

PANCHAYAT RAJ: Short Essay

English_Master August 5, 2016 No Comments
PANCHAYAT RAJ Writing in ‘Young India’ on May 28, 1931 Gandhiji, Father of our nation made reference to the importance of Panchayat Raj i.e., administration by the villagers themselves, a local self government at the grassroots in a democracy. Realizing the importance of Panchayat Raj, our constitution makers incorporated the idea of Panchayat institutions in directive principles of state policy. It would be the duty of the state to organize the village Panchayat and to endow them with such power and authority as may be necessary to enable them to function as units of self govt. It has given impetus to the village Panchayat in different states. It is a three tier system of local governing bodies at village, block and district level. Panchayat Raj emphasis the consolidation of these institutions and bringing in to sharp focus their role in building up free i India as a prosperous and strong nation.
