THE ROLE OF A TEACHER
Teaching is the noblest of all professions. Before the modern education system came into vogue, there were Guru Kulas in our country. Guru means one who eliminates darkness. Teachers provide students knowledge and make them new persons who can meet the challenges of life with courage and confidence and shoulder tomorrow’s burdens.
They are familiar with how to instruct the bright students and to boost other average merit to the standard score by covering up their weak points. It is the duty of the teachers to produce engineers, doctors, lawyers, clerks, peons and other men who are never interested in earning money but seeks welfare of the people. They teach students discipline, responsibility, compassion, empathy, morals, etc. They take the important role in helping the children acquiring good habits. They even live as their models. They are kind, helpful and cheerful.
Teachers persuade their students and the public as a whole. They play a momentous role in training the character of the students and the developing their individuality. As the Kothari commission rightly says, “The future of our country is shaped in our classroom”. It shows the authority of teachers on their Pupils. They facilitate their students in the personality development and individuality improvement. They educate them to be tranquil, quiet, and joyful, and to discover the contentment of reading which gives magnificent knowledge, etc. Teacher is the influential ingredient in the classroom. They hold extraordinary command to make the life of the children cheerful. They can be tools of encouragement to them .So today, people esteem, follow and imitate their teachers.
