On account of the emergence of consumerism on the Indian scene, the consumer has become the king. He has become a first class right holder. He plays very vital role in determining the quality and quantity of various products in the Indian market. With the advent of foreign goods in the Indian market, the consumer’s choice has multiplied. The tendency of going to only a particular shop or a specific salesperson because of good personal rapport is fast eroding. The consumers today expects that his wants be satisfied on his own terms. The consumer now is not the receiving end of manufacturer’s ambitious growth targets. Each competitor tries to offer better value for money. One notices that costs are vigorously monitored so as to make products as attractive as possible. Almost all electronic items have followed a near similar path. Another development is quality consciousness. Features like ready availability, easy accessibility and established quality are prime considerations. Credit facility is gaining popularity today. Every product is a readymade example of absolutely basic consumer products. Therefore, consumerism in the Indian market has come to stay and there are no opinions on this account.
