VALUE BASED EDUCATION AND CRIME RATE

Many are literates but only a few are educated. Literacy may enable a student to get a degree and earn his livelihood but it does not teach a person any moral or ethics. He may even become a thief, a pickpocket, a robber or even a murderer but it is not necessary that he will become a useful citizen of the society. The need of the hour is ‘Value Based Education’, which can give good citizen to a country so that its future remains bright. In this modern world, the students are becoming drug-addicts, smugglers or eve-teasers and that is due to lack of moral education. No ethics are taught to the students which can be of any use to any individual but it can even be harmful. This type of education cannot cater to the harmonious development of a child, which is the need of the hour. The notion of value based education is even a must in so-called public schools which are guided by the lure of money, not bothering to train the students in useful activities. Spiritual values have lost their worth in the eyes of these public schools. So it is necessary, if we want to check  the crime rate in the society, that our education must be value based, which may inspire creativity in the minds of the students.
