OVER POPULATION
India is a developing country. These days she is facing many problems. These are poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, overpopulation, social evils, backwardness and corruption Ever since India got independence, our government has been trying its best to solve these problems. But the most important among them is the problem of overpopulation.
Overpopulation is one of the reasons for India’s economic backwardness. Population explosion causes poverty, starvation, ill-health and illiteracy. Whatever we achieve by means of economic development is swallowed up by the ever increasing population. As the density of population in a given area increases, each person’s share of the available supplies of land, water, fuel, etc decreases. At present the world population is about 500 crores and about 8 crores people are being added to it every year. In India alone there are 100 crores people and in 4 years’ time we will have more than a population of crores. Therefore the problem of population is very crucial for us.
The only viable solution to these problems lies in cultivation of the habit of family planning which must be effective and widespread. This will automatically solve a number of problems which the country is facing today. People should be given education and their attention drawn to the various dangers of the growth of population.
