HOW TO WRITE AN ESSAY?
Before you start writing, select a topic. It can be of any subject, about a match, movie, geography, science, earth, space, storm, flood, disaster, or any bizarre incident you have seen or read.
First, jot down all important points the essay needs to discuss. If it is about science, then quote both the advantages and disadvantages. While so, mention the names of a few scientists who invented what, and say briefly the initial setbacks faced by him/her, how his/her efforts were criticized and the action that the person had taken to overcome all that and how he/she had finally become successful.
If you wish to write about a flood, what caused the floods, how it affected the people, number of persons drowned and rendered homeless, as also the loss of crops, if any. Similarly, also about social-ills. But remember: when writing about social-ills, it is mandatory to suggest a solution also. Anyone can write a problem, but it is the suggestion for a remedial action that makes one a good analyst and essayist.
It helps us in many ways. First, it enables one to understand the topic fully well, analyze the pros and cons, and present it nicely, together with a suggestion. To achieve this, one need to know in-depth of that thing. It requires reading more and more.
To cap it all, writing essays enhances one’s English language, besides making him or her knowledgeable which is a rewarding aspect. Even if you are annoyed about an event, never put it in writing. Do not abuse. Use mild language, however, sticking to your points, so that you can win the hearts of the readers and thereby persuade them to see things from your point of view. Essay is called as Feature writing in modern journalism.
Read what you have written. If necessary, show it to the elders and tell them to analyze it critically. It is the feedback that will sharpen your skill. But do not lose heart if they find fault in your essays.
