A VISIT TO A HOSPITAL
I visited Medical College Hospital yesterday to see one of my relatives admitted there in the emergency ward. Compared to the facilities available, the number of patients there was too high. My relative was lying on a bench as no bed was available. He was to be operated for appendicitis the next morning. I got some time to visit other wards too. The first ward I visited was orthopedic ward. Almost all the patients were in plasters. The sight of the patients in the surgical ward was pathetic. They were lying with bandages. A case of open heart surgery was also done that day. But the patient was in special care unit. There was a serious case. Nurses were found rushing to the patient. But he could not be saved. It did not take long for him to breathe his last. I did not have the courage to see the Medicine ward and Pediatric ward where death hovered like an evil bird.
