WHERE THERE IS A WILL THERE IS A WAY
‘Great things are done when men and mountains meet’ said William Blake. One has to ascend the highest range of determination to achieve an aim. An effort done halfheartedly seldom fructifies. History of mankind shows that man, a descendent of ape, has changed the shape of the world. The difference between the Stone Age and the Modem Era signifies the will and determination of man to proceed on. Nothing is impossible in the world if we have a will to do it. According to Napoleon ‘Impossible is found in fool’s dictionary ‘.
Man may have a bent towards evil or virtue. His will can work both ways. Evil politicians and scientists have fought furious wars with sophisticated weapons produced by them. They almost ravaged the world more than once. On the other hand benevolent people have asserted their will to make the world a better place to live. With their determination they evolved ways and means to save man from diseases. They reduced the distance on the Earth to create a sense of brotherhood. They provided man with means of communication to link the whole World within seconds. If man’s will produced atom bomb it could also find ways to harness atomic energy for peaceful purposes.
Man’s will has crossed the barriers of space. Having given the sophisticated means of pleasure like TV of physical strength like robot and of mental supremacy like computer the scientist is looking ahead in the galaxy. He has the will to know about Mars. Won’t he communicate with life on other planets? Will it remain only a scientific fiction? Probably not. In the years to come man will totally cross the space barrier and establish interplanetary communion.
If the scientist and the politician can exert their will to achieve such big things we can also secure great success in our lives. Let a young boy have strong will power he is sure to achieve great goals. If a Gorbachev at 56 could revolutionize the whole Communist world what can a young man in his teens and twenties is not do.
