English Proverbs – THE BEST FISH SWIMS NEAR THE BOTTOM

Proverb Expansion

THE BEST FISH SWIMS NEAR THE BOTTOM

It is easy to catch the fish that swims near the surface of a river, sea etc. The fish caught from the surface is of low quality and less value. But the best kind of fish swims near the bottom. It is difficult to catch it. But once he catches it, it may be of great value to him. The pain taken to catch such a fish is always worthwhile. Similarly, the most precious gems are found at the bottom of the oceans. But if a person manages to get one, he will get a good fortune. The pains taken to get such gems are amply rewarded. Getting something free or without trouble gives little mental satisfaction. But, if we get a good result from the true hard work, it will give us much mental satisfaction. We can feel proud of it too. In general, people are not ready to do hard work to achieve good results in life. They are reluctant to spend their time and energy on any endeavour. Most of them look out for shortcuts which require only less labour and effort. But they may not get a good result. Only true hard work will bring the best results in life. Only those who have the willingness and endurance can have the pleasure of enjoying the best fish, the best things in ife.
