THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE RULES THE WORLD

The meaning of the proverb is that the influence of a mother in a person’s life is great. The mother is the first and the best teacher. It is the mother who sees the first smile on the lips of her body and she dreams of making it a permanent one. The child is with the mother always. She feeds and takes care of her child. The child learns its first lesson from the mother. Most of the child’s moral training is given by the mother. She creates permanent impressions upon the mind of the child. The impressions made on the child in his early years are not easily forgotten and have a great deal to do with the fixing of his character. Naturally, it is the mother who has the greatest influence on the child. The influence of a person’s mother is the strongest and the most permanent in life. The mother influences the child even before its birth. All these contribute to the whole personality of a person. What children do in the world as men and women is largely determined by what their mothers did for them when they were small. Thus the mother indirectly governs the destiny of the race through her child. It is her hand that rocks the cradle and so I is her hand that indirectly rules the word. Shivaji became a great patriot and warrior owing to the good teachings inspiration and encouragement of his mother. Booker T Washington says that whatever achievements he has in life are due t the good qualities which he inherited from his mother. The future of any nation and race depends on the character and training the rising generation gets. So, mothers should be given the right education. The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow. They will be what their mothers make them.
