Essay on HOW I CELEBRATED MY BIRTHDAY

HOW I CELEBRATED MY BIRTHDAY

My birthday falls on 20th January. I am very happy on this day because it is the only day when I made to feel important.

I belong to wealthy family. Even then my father is not ready for grand birthday celebration usually. He doesn’t believe in wasting for such unnecessary celebrations. He tells us of the suffering of the poor and the needy around us and ready to help them always. Since it was my fifteen birthday, he agreed to celebrate it. So i invited some of my close friends and my mother invited some of our immediate relatives.

Since January 20th was a Sunday, we could celebrate my birthday without any inconvenience. I got up in the morning and went to the nearby temple with my parents and my sister to invoke the blessing of God. After coming back from temple, I began to decorate the drawing room where the birthday party was going to be held in the evening. My sister helps me to decorate the room. Instead of having our lunch at home on that day, we went to an orphanage in the city. My father had given money to the director of the orphanage to arrange a good lunch for the inmates on that day. We ate lunch with them. I was in tears when I saw the affection and love of those unfortunate brothers. I still forget that day.

My friends and relatives started coming by about 5 p.m. I received everyone of them warmly and made them sit comfortably in the drawing room. They brought me gifts nicely packed with coloured wrappers.  When everyone was assembled in the room, my mother brought a birthday cake. Candles were lit on its corners. As my friends sang “happy birthday” I blew off the candles. I cut a small piece of cake and gave it to my parents. Everyone wished me a happy birthday as I served them with a piece of cake. Some snacks were also ready. My sister helped my mother in serving them. There was pleasure, laughter and music. The gifts were piled up in one corner. Soon we all got ready to play some games. Every game seemed to be full of fun. We all roared us with laughter. The lengthening shadows of the evening reminded us that we had to wind up. Those who came started taking leave. I thanked for their best wishes and gifts.

Even today I cherish the memories of my fifteenth birthday celebration.
