CLEAN-UP INDIA
The necessity of ‘Clean-up India’ was never understood so vehemently as in the days of plague epidemic in year 1994. As a matter of fact, our country is the dirtiest in the whole world. Let us not shut our eyes from the bare facts under the fever of patriotism. Let us realize that most of our population is not cleanliness- minded. We do not realize that cleanliness is next to Godliness. Our villages, towns and the streets dirty. We clean ourselves, our houses but make the streets dirty by throwing the garbage as and when we get the opportunity to do so. A majority of Indians seems to be ignorant of the deadly diseases that may breakup due to unclean surroundings. There are many people who seem to be very clean and tidy but they do not maintain proper hygiene. Especially the Indian villages are very dirty. Even our government hospitals are not properly cleaned. The civic authorities should be conscious now to drive ‘Clean up India’ movement so that people may understand their responsibilities and plague-type academics may not recur in future.
