DEATH PENALTY: A LEGAL MURDER

“An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”, seems to be basic principle of death penalty, it is based on the savage principle of taking revenge. It is high time since we abolished this brutal punishment from this modern world of civilization. Death penalty does not improve human character it does not provide the criminal to realize his mistake and improves his character. This does not help us in eradicating crimes from our society. A major weak point of this punishment is that most often the crime is not fully established. It has happened in the past that innocent people were falsely accused of murder and were executed by the judiciary. A general feeling that came up during the discussion was that the judiciary should try to understand the background of a criminal and the crime he committed. He needs judicial sympathy. If that he could be rehabilitated, he will be able to lead a more meaningful life and this would be better lessons for others than beheading him. Moreover, life is scared and human life is all the more scared and no one has the right to kill. It is a sin to destroy a scared life.
