Short Essay on A VISIT TO THE TAJ

A VISIT TO THE TAJ

During our autumn break, we planned to visit the Taj Mahal. The Taj is at Agra. The Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, built it in the loving memory of his beautiful queen, Mumtaj Mahal. We reached Agra by the Taj express. Our aunt, who lives at Agra, receives us. After taking the bath and lunch, we went to see the Taj. It is situated on the banks of Yamuna River. It is made up of white marble. The building is on the platform of red stone. Four minarets rise from the corners of the terrace. There is a large dome at the center of the building. Around this dome are four minarets. The building has eight sides and many arches. Its design combines the architectural tradition of India and Persia. The remains of Shah Jahan and Mumtaj Mahal lie buried below the central hall. There is a park in its front with fountains on both sides. It was the time of sunset when reached the Taj. The image of the Taj seemed quite charming. It was an exquisite sight. The crimson rays of the sun added to its beauty. We stayed there for around four hours. All the time, I was lost in its admiration. Its beauty increased manifold in the moonlight. The Taj is really a ‘thing of beauty’ that gives ‘a joy forever’.
