Future of Democracy in India

India is said to be the largest democracy in the world. Every citizen in India, who is above 18 years, has the right to vote. There are clearly defined areas of legislature, executive and judiciary in India. India has a directly elected Prime Minister, other ministers and legislators. There is a Panchayati Raj in the rural areas.

In spite of all this, it cannot be said categorically that democracy is really a success in India. According to the former Chief Election Commissioner, Lyngdoh, not even a single politician in India is committed to democracy. In his opinion, the zamindari system in essence still continues in India.

essay on democracy in india
What is Democracy..?

The elected representatives take the five year period for which they are elected as lease for fiefdom in which they can do whatever they like and this exactly is what we see today in India. If we take the pre-retrial remarks of Mr. Lyngdoh seriously, we’d have to infer that real democracy is still to take roots in India.

The Indian democracy is endangered from several angles. There are so many communal forces in our country. The politicians and the bureaucrats are all by and large models of corruption. In spite of all the efforts of the Election Commission and the judiciary fair and free elections are not always held. Booth-capturing is still not totally eliminated.

Unless some drastic measures are taken by all concerned, democracy may still be in danger in India. Only one positive thing one can say about Indian democracy is that mostly the freedom of the press is there in this country which enables the common people to express their voice even if it is not always heard by the authorities concerned.

A child wakes up early in the morning, gets ready for his school and reaches his school within half an hour and in some cases depending on the distance and traffic it even takes one hour to reach the school. Thus we see many kids spent two hours in going to school and coming back home. Next almost all the schools are of minimum six hours of duration.

Therefore almost twelve hour is gone in getting ready for school, going to school and coming and taking meals. And another eight hours are gone in sleep, remaining four hours. In this four hour a child has to complete his homework and if there is any time left then he can play.

Essay Writing topics for kids on How I Spent My Summer Vacation

Vacations are the best time to relax and enjoy and I eagerly wait for my summer vacations every year. Every year my school closes in the middle of the month of May and reopens by the end of June. Annual exams get over and the results are declared. This time I got promoted to class nine from class eight. After the hard labor for the examinations, I wanted some rest and also some refreshment. Hence I put aside my books for a few weeks. Next day morning I went out to play with my friends.

It was a very hot and sunny day so we decided to play indoor games. In the evening I asked my father and mother to take me to any of the hill stations because I wanted to beat the heat. My father told me that we cannot go to a hill station because all the hotels and resorts are booked beforehand only.

Rosewood, ebony and mahagony are some of the trees grown in tropical rain forests of India. Teak is the most common type of tree found in the monsoon forests of India. Coniferous trees like pine and cedar, trees of the Alpine variety like silver-fir, birch and juniper are found in the Himalayan regions.

The uses of trees to men are many. The timber trees supply men with wood for various purposes. The wood of oak, teak and mahagony are hard and are used for making beautiful furniture. The wood pulp for making paper is got from soft wood trees. Trees provide us with different kinds of fruits.  The chief fruits of the cold countries are apples, pears and plums and cherries. The fruit trees abundant in the warm countries are orange, lemon, mango and peach. Some other trees are famous for their beautiful flowers having sweet smell.

The climate of a region largely depends upon the trees. By cooling the air, they attract rain. Rainfall is heavy in the forests of the valleys. So a country with plenty of trees and forests gets plenty of rain and a treeless country is often a desert. Thus trees help in the economic growth of a country and also serve to maintain the ecological balance. Trees also stop soil erosion. Cutting down trees will result in soil erosion, flood and drought. Thousands of birds and animals depend on the trees for food, shelter and shade. Trees add to the natural beauty of a place. Value of Discipline – Essay writing Topics

Essay Writing Topics Value of Discipline

The Value of Discipline

Discipline means learning to obey certain rules of conduct. The very essence of discipline is obedience – obedience to rules. In other words, discipline means the willing submission of a person to rules, regulations and instructions recognised by society. It is a willing and polite discharge of one’s duty towards others in society. If there is no discipline in life, there is anarchy.

Discipline reigns supreme from heaven to earth. For instance, the earth, the moon and the stars move round the sun according to certain specific rules. Even animals are disciplined under the leaders of their herds. The life of bees in a hive is a model of disciplined life. The various organs of the human body co-operate with one another and are disciplined for the growth of the whole body.

Essay Writing Topics Value of Discipline

There are two main aspects of discipline. One is the moral aspect which is concerned with the individual and his inner qualities. The other is the social aspect which governs the external behaviour of a person in the society.

The training of a child is a good example of discipline in the first sense. To be of any use in human society, a child has to be trained from its early years. The home is the nursery where it receives the first lessons of discipline through obedience to elders. Discipline becomes a matter of vital importance to any educational institution. This is because student life is a period of preparation for the battle of life. There is a greater need for discipline in the society also. A family having no discipline becomes a den of quarrels and is ultimately divided. If the members in a society are undisciplined, it will break up and its progress will be arrested. Lack of discipline among the youth of a country is dangerous to national security. Democracy is a mockery in undisciplined countries and such countries will be ultimately ruled by dictators.
